Giants at Brewers - Part II

If it's a Brewer's home game, you gotta have the Sausage Races. Here the Polish Sausage just noses out the Chorizo for the win. Game time temperature in Phoenix........81 degrees..........game time temperature in Milwaukee........29 degrees. I know where I would rather be.

In a recurring theme, the Giants fell behind early to the Brewers 3-1 and came back to win going away 15-6. The Giants hit early and often, with contributions coming from up and down the lineup. I did not mention Pedro Feliz. He was 1 for 4 with a strikeout and a SAC fly RBI. None of the Giants replacement players got a hit, with the exception of Nate Schierholtz. Eugenio Velez had a particularly tough day going 0 for 3 with 3 strikeouts. Pretty hard to get a hat trick as a replacement that didn't come into the game until the 6th inning........but Velez managed.

The only pitcher I didn't mention was Steve Kline. Kline was less than impressive as he pitched the 5th inning, allowing 1 run on a double and a single while tallying 1 strikeout. Since the Giants took an 8-4 lead by the 4th inning.......it's hard to fault the relief pitchers who gave up 1 run each. Better to throw strikes and allow a few hits and runs under these circumstances, than to walk a few batters and give up a big inning. The Giants pitchers gave up a total of 1 walk.

All in all a good game with a lot of non-roster players and youngsters playing well. Not a bad debut by Lincecum, all considered. Tomorrow I will be back in Maryvale, for yet another Giants/Brewers game. Tomorrows starter is scheduled to be Noah Lowry in a full-squad game.

You forgot Brain Anderson. He had a 123 inning in the 9th. His offspeed stuff was down right nasty.

I hope you get to see Lincecum again to judge progress. Poor guy just lost 6 lbs. When I was that lean many yrs ago, I would be barely walkin if I lost 6.
