Todd Linden got the start and played the entire game, batting 7th. Todd was 1 for 4 with an RBI single in the 9th. He was less than inspiring with a called 3rd strike, 2 groundballs to 2B........one of them a DP.
As I said under Russ Ortiz' photo...Linden's catch was VERY nice. I always have the feeling that Linden will make a diving catch when he could have just as easily made a running shoestring catch. Today's catch was in that same vein. Still, any way you look at it.....he got a good jump and made a very nice catch that many Major leaguers would not make.
I have been complimenting Linden all Spring. He WILL be the 4th outfielder come April 3rd. But as I said.......this was just a so-so game for him.
I'm with you on turning a runing catch into a diving catch and the fact that it was just a so-so day overall atthe plate...I am just hoping for a giants drafted position player to make it big...or just make it to the point where one contributes to a post season run...that I may have over reacted....keep up the great work; we all look forward to your daily posts
I have been a Giants fan for as long as I can remember. I have had Giants Regular Season Tickets for 25 years (since 1985) and Spring Training Season Tickets since the "new" Scottsdale Stadium opened in 1992. I have gone to Spring Training every year, except the strike year, since 1987. I go to A LOT of Giants games. I also go to Arizona for the Arizona Fall League every October/November. I figure I attended about 125-130 games in calendar year 2008......almost all of them involving Giants players. Baseball is a great game.....Giants' baseball is the best part of a great game!

The website shows a nice diving catch in the fourth...how did it look in person?
I was told that the ball Todd hit in the ninth was scorched...ten stole to put the tieing run on second.
maybe not the best all around day, but how about the positives?
...love all your work....look forward to it each day...
