Today was audition day for Scott Atchison and Sun-Woo Kim. Atchison started the game so Bochy could get a look at the bullpen, while the originally scheduled starter, Russ Ortiz, pitched in a Minor League game. Atchison politely said.....I don't think I want Hennessey's Long relief job.

Scott pitched 2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk. He had a good first inning, allowing only 1 baserunner on Tomas DeLaRosa's error to the leadoff batter. The 2nd inning was a little rougher, as he allowed single, HR, walk to the first 3 batters before tightening up getting the next 3 batters on a strikeout, flyout and groundball to SS. Atchison had trouble finishing off batters. The single came on a 0-1 count, the HR on a 1-2 pitch, and the walk came in an AB that started out with a 0-2 count. He threw 39 pitches.....24 of them strikes. Atchison has a decent fastball, but his out pitch seems to be a breaking pitch of some sort. I would say slider.
