Fred Lewis dives back into 1B on a pickoff attempt. He stole 2B on the next pitch. Fred started in LF and was 2 for 3 with 2 singles, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. I guess he read our comments about not working the pitcher and drawing walks. Not a bad day for the #9 batter.

Assuming Fred goes back to Fresno, I'm looking for a huge season from him down there.

Looks like he had a pretty nice lead off.

One of the raps on Lewis has been that his speed hasn't translated into SB's. The 2 he got today is a bit encouraging, though a small sample size. Maybe he's working with some coaches on it? For all the criticism of Lewis' work ethic, he seems to have put a lot of work into improving his game.

Ya know, doc, I've read a lifetimes worth of denigrating the Giants' prospects - to the effect there are no position prospects - but I think the OFs (there are even too many AAA ready prospects for Fresno this year) have shown that any of them, even several of them, could continue developing and break into the bigs. We know we have some nice middle IFs coming up. Even Ishikawa cannot be counted out yet. So there are 5 of the 8 position slots with legitimate, multiple prospects - + one potential 1bman.
