Fred Lewis got the start in LF today. He had only 1 hit in his 4 ABs, but he picked a good time for it. His only hit was a 2 RBI single in the 4th that gave the Giants a 4-3 lead.

Again, note the fairly aggressive batting stance in contrast to what I remember of Fred back in San Jose days. He reminded me of Willie McGee back then.

I wish I was old enough to remember Willie. I just remeber how he walked.

I love this stance. Not only aggressive, but looks very balanced and "ready."

Phil,

Trust me. Being old enough to remember Willie McGee is overrated. Think of it this way, you have a much better chance than I of living long enough to see the Giants win the World Series!

No one in the history of MLB has taken as many flat out ugly swing-throughs followed by line drive basehits on the next pitch than Willie McGee....no one.

Every time I got a chance to see Willie bat (on TV), he always seemed to ground out to the pitcher four times, and yet he maintained a .300 average mostly. Incredible!

Lewis seems to be showing that his talent may be getting overlooked because of his age. Lewis has been hitting and is a bullet on the bases. I believe lewis also is putting on some power numbers, but I feel like he might be best for leadoff hitter.
