Barry Zito's first pitch as a Giant. Zito pitched two very good innings; facing only 7 batters and allowing only a 2 out single to Derrick Lee in the first. Zito labored slightly in the first inning, throwing 19 pitches, mainly due to the leadoff batter Alfonso Soriano striking out on 8 pitches. Zito needed only 10 pitches in the 2nd inning to dispense with the Cubs on two groundouts to Omar Vizquel and a weak fly out to LF.

How did Soriano look playing outfield?

He played 3 innings in CF. The only chance he had was on Pedro Feliz' SAC Fly in the first. Can of corn fly......no way anyone makes the play at home. Nothing special.
