The 3rd pitcher of the day was Merkin Valdez. Merkin had a GREAT inning. He found a way to make sure that defense didn't affect his outing. Whatever he was throwing, it sure must have been fooling the batters. Not only did Merkin have a 3 strikeout inning, to keep his spring ERA at 0.00. All 3 strikeouts were on called strike 3! I wish I had the same vantage point as I had yesterday to see the pitches a little better. 3 called strikeouts in 1 inning is pretty rare.
