Bengie Molina chats it up with fellow catcher Stephen Holm. Holm is a 28 year old catcher who is in his 9th year in the Giants' organization. He was in AA Connecticut last year, where he hit .272/.387/.433/.820 in 84 games. The Giants seem to like older Minor League catchers.

A couple of years ago, my family and I were at a San Jose/Rancho Cucamonga game to watch Matt Cain pitch. We were sitting in front row seats just inside the Giants dugout. A foul ball rolled into the dugout and Steve Holm picked it up, walked over and handed it to my younger daughter(she was about 10 yo at the time). Needless to say, I'm rooting for Holm to grab a cup'o'coffee someday.

After seeing Steve and the other kids play in San Jose over the few couple of years, it is great seeing them working with the big club.

I wish them the best of luck.

Young minor league catchers have no other option but to become old minor league catchers with this organization. At least for the past few years. The youth movement just started so maybe that will change but I am not holding my breath.
I wish I was in Scottsdale and not at work.
