The Giants new hitting coach, Carney Lansford. And that's Pablo Sandoval in the photo again. He seems to always be around where I am taking the photographs.
I don't know about last year, he wasn't in camp. But I have some shots from 2006 when he was a thirdbaseman and he looks slightly less heavy this year than he was then. Was he heavier in 2007 than he was in 2006?
I don't think he's really competing for the backup catcher's spot, at least for a few years. He played for San Jose last year, I believe, which is pretty far from the majors.
I have been a Giants fan for as long as I can remember. I have had Giants Regular Season Tickets for 25 years (since 1985) and Spring Training Season Tickets since the "new" Scottsdale Stadium opened in 1992. I have gone to Spring Training every year, except the strike year, since 1987. I go to A LOT of Giants games. I also go to Arizona for the Arizona Fall League every October/November. I figure I attended about 125-130 games in calendar year 2008......almost all of them involving Giants players. Baseball is a great game.....Giants' baseball is the best part of a great game!

Pablito looks a bit heavier in this picture, but I still think he's lighter than last season. At least his weight looks better distributed.
I don't know what it is but Pablo is photogenic. I think I took more shots of him than any other San Jose Giant last year.

Carney is the best acquisition the Giants made this offseason.
drb? anyone?
I know he can hit but how is he as a catcher? Can he be considered a serious contender for the backup catchers spot ahead of Alfonzo or Rodriguez?
