Still think Tyler didn't lose a little weight? Sometimes it takes getting cut to motivate a player.

Whoa!
I think Tyler lost at least 15 pounds.
I remember a special about Tyler on Fox sports pre-game a few years back. He talked about growing up in SF and living a dream about being a San Francisco Giant. His mom was on it too. She was such a nice, caring lady. After seeing this special on TV about him, it was hard not to pull for the guy.
I wish Tyler nothing but the best with his new team!
Thanks for keeping this blog together. I am a longtime Giants fan, currently living in Mexico City, where baseball news constitutes one box score page after six pages of European, Latin American, and US league soccer.
nice pictures and comments, thanks again. Sat. night, local TV news in Sacramento showed 2 highlights: Lewis HR, and Velez, playing second, charging in and making a nice throw. Any observations on Velez at second?
That's the only time Velez has played 2B in a game. In practice he was horrible, making lots of mistakes even when just taking routine infield practice. He has been playing the outfield, as he did again yesterday. Looks to me like the competition at 2B is between Burriss and Frandsen.
Velez has hands of stone and has a lot of bad habits as a fielder. He doesn't look comfortable playing any infield position at all. EVERY play is a challenge for him. It's hard to justify putting a guy like that in RF or LF (power hitter positions). I would try and make him a CF. With his speed he can get to just about anything hit in the air. The problem might be his arm strength.
I have been a Giants fan for as long as I can remember. I have had Giants Regular Season Tickets for 25 years (since 1985) and Spring Training Season Tickets since the "new" Scottsdale Stadium opened in 1992. I have gone to Spring Training every year, except the strike year, since 1987. I go to A LOT of Giants games. I also go to Arizona for the Arizona Fall League every October/November. I figure I attended about 125-130 games in calendar year 2008......almost all of them involving Giants players. Baseball is a great game.....Giants' baseball is the best part of a great game!
