Matt Downs was one of only 2 fielders to play the entire game. He went 1 for 4 at the plate....but like most of the team his defense was lacking. He was playing RF when a high flyball was lifted to the wall, He got back to the wall and was in a position to make the play, then he sort of shied away like he thought he was going to hit the wall hard. As he reached his glove up, the ball hit the wall, under his glove, about head high. Since the ball never touched his glove, it was ruled as a triple charged to Matt Cain. An absolute killer of a play that helped doom the team early in the game.

Pretty unfair to Matt to ask him to play RF. What's wrong with the organization? Oh yeah. They have no idea how to groom talent.

Yep......more of the Giants' ridiculous notion that players should play multiple positions. Of course....what team enters spring Training with only 5 roster outfielders and 1 non-roster outfielder? That decision had disaster written all over it before pitchers and catchers even reported.

Now that Schierholtz has hamstring problems, Lewis has his foot problem and Roberts has a knee problem....it's only going to get worse. Can these guys please get healthy?
