It was great to see Merkin Valdez throwing in a game again. I didn't think his fastball was as overpowering as I remembered it, but it must have been moving or he was hitting his spots well. Besides....it's his frst appearance. After starting his first batter off with 3 straight balls, he came back strong to get 2 weak flyballs to LF and a groundball out. No hits, no walks, no K's.
