2nd pitcher of the day, Armando Benitez. Benitez seemed to be throwing nice and loose and was getting pretty good velocity for this time of year. I saw no sign of him favoring a knee, a leg or any other body part........but it's early.

Looks like he's throwing a split. Did you happen to notice if it was actually getting movement (unlike last year)?
I really don't know what he was throwing. Most of the pitches are throwing fastballs at this point with an occasional off-speed pitch thrown in there. Benitez did throw one off-speed pitch to Bonds that Bonds got a really ugly swing on. It was up high so I hope it wasn't a splitter.
"But Benitez provided the day's highlight by firing a wicked split-fingered fastball that produced a wild, one-handed swing from Bonds. "He thought it was a sinker," Benitez said. Bonds simply watched the next pitch dart by, yelling good-naturedly to Benitez, "You can get me once, but not twice."
It makes sense that he would not run and do some of the other conditioning work because of his knee. And, I suppose, there is no way to know if he is riding a bike in the locker room. But is there any sign he is strong and toned?
I was at a game against the Angels last season and Mando came out and actually had one of his few 1-2-3 innings of the year. He faced Vladimir Guerrero and threw him some fastballs but got him out on a few high splitters.
I have been a Giants fan for as long as I can remember. I have had Giants Regular Season Tickets for 25 years (since 1985) and Spring Training Season Tickets since the "new" Scottsdale Stadium opened in 1992. I have gone to Spring Training every year, except the strike year, since 1987. I go to A LOT of Giants games. I also go to Arizona for the Arizona Fall League every October/November. I figure I attended about 125-130 games in calendar year 2008......almost all of them involving Giants players. Baseball is a great game.....Giants' baseball is the best part of a great game!
