Fred Lewis played today and led off the game with a hard hit single over SS on the first pitch of the game. You can see he is going to be late on this swing, but that didn't keep him from stinging the ball to the opposite field. He scored the first run of the game from 1B on a double by DeLaRosa. Fred struck out looking in his second AB.

I've seen several games where Freddie Lewis either sliced or fisted balls to the opposite field when he was late on the swing. If that's all he does, that's bad, but I've also seen him hit the ball up the middle and successfully pull the ball, so it's probably good that he's able to make the most out of a bad situation(swinging late). I remember one hit in particular up in High Desert when he was with SJ where he sliced one that carried all the way and bounced off the wall. His speed allowed him an easy triple despite the LF fielding the ball cleanly off the wall.
