He pitched 18.1 innings for the Mets in 2004 with a 3.86 ERA and a K/9 of 9.64. So, he is a srikeout pitcher, but needs to keep his BB's down. He missed the 2005 and 2007 seasons, so there may be an injury history. I could see him starting out in Fresno to work on his control/command with a possible callup during the season.DrBGiantsfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10699322384438591979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21563811.post-4637430343175577372008-02-16T19:04:00.000-08:002008-02-16T19:04:00.000-08:00Looks like competition for the Pen this year...Fro...Looks like competition for the Pen this year...

From what they say, they are going with 11 or 12 man staff which is scary..

Kline (Lefty Specialist)
Tasch
Messenger
Hennessey (Long Relief)
Sanchez
Walker (SU)
Wilson (CL)

Be intersting to see if Capellen, Williamson, Fortunato can supplant them...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21563811.post-68145922687024415742008-02-16T14:57:00.000-08:002008-02-16T14:57:00.000-08:00Yeah, I still follow the kids.Fortunato must have ...Yeah, I still follow the kids.
Fortunato must have had something as he was one of the two players traded by the Rays to the Mets for Scott Kazmir. The other player if I recall was Victor Zambrano.

I wouldn't be suprised if Fortunato made the team, along with the kid Capellan. I really like Capellan and I think it might be worth keeping him on the 25-man roster for the full season just to keep him in the organization.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21563811.post-2123048197599164182008-02-16T14:52:00.000-08:002008-02-16T14:52:00.000-08:00Damn...that is good.
